Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Party Light (the “App”), published by Black n White Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”), handles information when you use it. Party Light is a music-reactive party light and visualizer app. We designed it to do its core work on your device. Please read this policy carefully.

1 Summary

• We do not collect, upload, or sell your microphone audio. Audio is analyzed in real time on your device and is never recorded or transmitted.
• We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal contact details to use the App.
• Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and nearby-device features operate locally between your devices; they do not send your data to us over the internet.
• We use Firebase (a Google service) to collect limited, aggregated analytics and crash diagnostics so we can fix bugs and improve the App.
• We show Google AdMob banner and interstitial ads in the free version of the App. You can remove ads with a one-time in-app purchase via Google Play.

2 Information processed on your device (not collected by us)

• Microphone audio. When you enable music sync, the App listens through the microphone to detect beats, tempo, and frequency so the lights and visualizers can react. This audio is processed in memory in real time and is never saved, recorded, or sent off the device.
• Phone audio playback (optional). If you choose to sync to your phone's own playback, the App uses Android's media-projection capture to analyze that audio locally for the same purpose. It is not stored or transmitted.
• Bluetooth & nearby devices. To discover and control BLE RGB light strips and to sync with other phones nearby (via Google Nearby Connections / Bluetooth / Wi-Fi), the App exchanges control and timing signals directly between devices. This communication is local and is not routed to our servers.
• App settings & presets. Your saved presets, theme choice, and preferences are stored only on your device (local database / preferences). They are not uploaded to us.

3 Information collected through Firebase

We use Google's Firebase platform (Firebase Analytics and crash reporting) to understand how the App is used in aggregate and to diagnose crashes and errors. Through these services, Google may automatically collect technical information such as:

• Device and software details (device model, operating-system version, language, region, app version);
• App usage and event data (which features and screens are used, session length, in-app interactions), in aggregate;
• A non-permanent app-instance identifier and approximate, IP-derived coarse location used for analytics;
• Crash and diagnostic data (stack traces, device state at the time of a crash).

This data is used solely to maintain and improve the App. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not sell it. Google processes this data as our service provider. 4 Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of Party Light shows advertisements served by Google AdMob. We use two ad formats:

• Banner ads — small ads shown at the bottom of certain screens.
• Interstitial ads — occasional full-screen ads displayed at natural transition points (e.g., between effect previews or when returning to the home screen).

To deliver, measure, and prevent fraud in these ads, Google AdMob and its advertising partners may process the following on your device:

• Your device's advertising ID (a resettable identifier controlled in Android settings);
• IP address and approximate, IP-derived coarse location;
• Device information — model, OS version, language, app version, network type;
• Ad-interaction events (ad impressions, clicks, view duration).

We do not share your microphone audio, presets, or any in-app content with AdMob or advertisers. Where required by law (EEA, UK, Switzerland, certain US states), the App will display a Google UMP consent prompt on first launch so you can choose between personalised and non-personalised ads. You can change your consent later from the App's settings, and you can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time from Android Settings → Privacy → Ads. 5 One-time purchase (Remove Ads)

Party Light offers an optional one-time in-app purchase through Google Play Billing that removes banner and interstitial ads from the App. Payment is processed entirely by Google Play — we never see or store your payment card details. Google Play shares with us only the anonymous purchase token needed to verify and unlock your entitlement.

• Your purchase is tied to your Google Play account and can be restored on a reinstall or new device by signing in to the same account.
• If you uninstall and reinstall, tap Restore Purchase in Settings to re-validate your entitlement with Google Play.
• Refunds and order history are handled by Google Play. See the Google Play refund policy.
• Disabling ads also disables ad-related data collection by AdMob within the App.

6 Permissions we request and why

• Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO) — to react to music in real time. Audio stays on the device.
• Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS) and foreground-service permissions — to show that audio capture is active while music sync runs.
• Bluetooth (BLUETOOTH_SCAN, BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, BLUETOOTH_ADVERTISE, and on older Android versions BLUETOOTH / BLUETOOTH_ADMIN) — to find, pair with, and control BLE light strips and to discover and sync with nearby phones during Party Sync.
• Wi-Fi (NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES, ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_STATE) — used by the device-to-device sync (Google Nearby Connections) to create a direct, local phone-to-phone link for the Party Sync feature. This link is local to the devices in the room; it does not connect to the internet and does not send your data to us or to any Wi-Fi network.
• Location (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION) — Android requires location permission in order to scan for and connect to nearby Bluetooth/Wi-Fi devices. The App requests it only when you use the Party Sync (multi-device) or BLE light features, and uses it solely to enable that nearby-device discovery. We do not use location to track you, we do not collect or store your GPS location, and we do not transmit location to us or any third party.
• Internet / network (INTERNET) — used for Firebase analytics/crash reporting, Google AdMob ad delivery, Google Play Billing, and standard app functionality. (Party Sync itself does not use the internet.)
• Advertising ID (com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID) — used by Google AdMob to deliver and measure banner and interstitial ads. You can reset or opt out via Android settings. Not used after you make the Remove Ads purchase.
• Google Play Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING) — used to process the one-time Remove Ads in-app purchase.
• Vibrate, wake lock, modify audio settings — for haptics, keeping the show running, and audio handling during effects.

7 Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can address it.

8 Photosensitivity notice

Some effects use rapid flashing lights that may trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. This is a safety notice, not a privacy matter, but we include it here for awareness. Stop using the App immediately and consult a medical professional if you feel unwell.

9 Data retention

Data stored on your device (presets, settings) remains until you delete it or uninstall the App. Analytics and crash data collected through Firebase are retained according to Google's Firebase retention settings and policies. Uninstalling the App stops further collection.

10 Your choices

• You can deny or revoke the microphone, Bluetooth, and other permissions at any time in your device's Settings. Some features will not work without them.
• You can limit ad/analytics identifiers using your device's privacy controls (e.g., “Delete advertising ID” / “Opt out of Ads Personalization” in Android settings).
• You can update your AdMob consent (personalised vs. non-personalised ads) from the App's settings at any time, where the consent flow applies in your region.
• You can remove all ads permanently with the one-time Remove Ads in-app purchase via Google Play.
• You can clear local data by clearing the App's storage or uninstalling it.

11 Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information. Because the App's core processing happens on your device and we minimize what is collected, the data exposure surface is intentionally small. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12 Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and post the new version at the same URL. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
